Mystery Owl in Sarnia

Sarnia, Ontario.

This owl lives in a schoolyard directly behind us.

It has shown up twice, that we have seen, during the day with kill.

This picture is the first time and yesterday it was on our fence with a chipmunk in its claws.

What can I do to discourage it from coming in our yard?

I know it has to eat also but we really enjoy then other wildlife in our yard.

Please help!

Thanking you in advance.

Thank you for sending your report and the charming picture of an Owl.

At first I thought it might be a Great Horned Owl, but the facial features look more like a Screech Owl to me, but perhaps one of our readers will know for sure.

Eastern Screech-Owl or Great Horned Owl
by: Anonymous

I think it might be the Eastern Screech-Owl from the size of its, what looks like a squirrel, prey.
If the owl is larger I would go with Great Horned Owl.
