Snowy Owl Sighting

by Steve
(Ontario)

Driving up to Harriston, Ontario this morning, March 3 2014, on the 11th Line.

In a tree beside the road there was a large bird on a branch. It was a Snowy Owl.

I never thought they came down this far south.

Beautiful bird.

by: Anonymous

Zen Way Boulevard near highway 27 exit, eastbound on a light post near carrion on the road. Wasn't sure what kind of Owl til I did research on the net, definitely a Snowy with light brown spots on the chest and black tips on his feathers.

Snowy owl near Hensall also
by: A McLean

They are beautiful. When I have driven to London I have seen a Snowy Owl several times. I don't know if its the same or if there is a pair. It has been on telephone poles and on the very top of a maple tree. The areas have been Airport Line, Parr Line and the Hensall-Zurich Road. All near Hensall. It just makes my day.

Black Cub bears paw prints
by: Anonymous

I was walking my dog last week after a light snow fall in the early morning, I noticed prints on the snow i was puzzled with all kinds of reactions i even thought a child ran out in the snow bare foot
the print had very rounded toes and kind of half of the whole foot of a human. I went to the computer and looked at animals paw prints on images, i noticed it was paw prints of a Cub black bear i was surprised because i live in Stayner Ontario and we do have coyotes and i have heard wolves howling too but now i believe we have Bears around the fields where i live i have looked into Simcoe County sites on bears and yes there has been sightenings of bears.
