Mystery raptor in Toronto

I was walking along the Rouge off off the trail at Morningside and came across two large raptors.

One of them had landed and I was able to get a photo before it flew off.

Am unfamiliar with the birds of Ontario and tried identifying it from a bird book, but could not make it.

The bird looked quite large and I thought it might have been an Eagle, but it does not resemble any of the two Eagles in the book.

I tried Hawks but could not come to any conclusion.

Does anyone know what it is.

I can't positively identify this bird either, but I will also post this on our facebook page and perhaps one of our readers will know what this bird is.

This closely resembles a bird of prey known as the Broad Winged Hawk.

There are two raptors very similar in appearance. The Coopers Hawk & Sharp-shinned Hawk. Since you said it was a fairly large bird, that would be a Coopers Hawk.
