Cardinal on snow covered rail

The very first time I saw a Cardinal was back in 1977 when I first arrived in Canada after emigrating from England.

It was the first winter I had spent in Ontario and we were living in Brantford and 1977-1978 was a very hard winter with a lot of snow.

We lived in a 4-plex on River Road and I loved to watch the beautiful Cardinals and Blue Jays that came to our balcony for the food we put out for them.

I had never seen birds with such vibrant colours, they were so lovely and we had never seen any other birds like them.

That's so nice to hear. You enjoy those wonderful birds. We need some colour during these cold and grey days.
