Early Robin arrival sign of early spring?

The first Robin of the season has arrived in my yard in London Ontario!

Seems very early.

Is this a sign of an early spring or...?

Hi Kim - in other years I too, have seen North American Robins at this time of year, and just recently I read an article which explained that there are some groups of Robins which don't head south for the winter.

It seems that they may find a reliable source of food late in the fall, such as fruit in the trees, berries left on trees, and they decide to stay.

If I can remember where I read this, I'll post it on here, but I think it was recently in the London Free Press, perhaps two weeks ago.
