Coyote in South Middleton Ontario

by Irm Simmonds

During my Saturday afternoon walk through the bush with my dogs, behind our house - upon approaching the irrigation pond, I spotted a Coyote down the field.

He saw us, but my dogs didn't see him - so I headed back.

Earlier last month, during my usual walk with my dogs, and in the bush, the dogs started chasing something, (they're always sniffing & chasing Rabbits, Raccoons, even Deer and the occasional Fox), but this was a Coyote - he ran by me about 50 feet away so I got a good look at him - definitely a Coyote!

I have walked these woods for the past 23 years and this is the first time I have seen Coyotes.

They do try to avoid human encounters and I'm sure they're watching me & my dogs - Yellow & Chocolate Lab, Cairn Terrier-X, and a Border Collie-X.

I am always watchful and I love to see wildlife, but when I see a Coyote, I want to give them lots of space.
