Wolf in Burlington October 21st, 2012

Spotted a very large Grey Wolf crossing Upper Middle Road \Burloak Drive, on Sunday night around 11:45pm.

My husband and I were coming back from the movie theatre, and just after the bend, when Burloak turns into Upper Middle, we had to come almost to a complete stop as, out came the Wolf.

He crossed the street to the farm \ forest that backs onto the Industrial buildings. I guess he was hunting for food! We were just amazed. He seemed quite comfortable crossing, no hesitation.

For me, he is just too close to the subdivisions, extremely close.

But what can you do?

They need to live some place too!

Thanks for telling us about your encounter!

We have had several reports of Coyote sightings in and around the Bronte Creek Conservation Area, so I wonder if you saw a large Coyote?

They are fairly common in Southern Ontario, but Wolves avoid areas where there are humans - this could have been a Wolf - Coyote Hybrid (Coy-Wolf) which have also been in Southern Ontario.

It makes you wonder .....
