We are on the Rideau River approximately 25 km south of Ottawa.

Around noon today I saw a large black bird land in our front yard.

It was about 20 yards from me and was either a Turkey Vulture or Black Vulture.

In the picture I took the head is totally red - I've seen lots in Florida but never here.

Thanks Jack - if the head is red, then it's a Turkey Vulture, if the head is black, then it's a Black Vulture, so from your picture I believe the picture is of a Turkey Vulture.
