Unknown Owl

I live in Grimsby, Ontario, and last night at 1:00 am, I heard a repetitive call coming from my yard.

It was a soft, deep hooting song. Hoooo, hoo-hoo-hoo, Hoooooo over and over again.

I tried to locate the bird but could not see it anywhere.

If I had to guess I would have said it was coming from a small owl, but out of all the calls I've listened to online, it sounds most like the Great Horned Owl.

Can you tell me what type of owl this may have been.

It was so amazing to be close to it!

Dove or Owl?

If it was very soft, it may have been a Dove.
I do however, hope it was an Owl.

Could be!

Hello Lisa, it could be that you heard a Great Horned Owl, they are around Southern Ontario.

If that is what you heard, you're lucky!
