Stalked by pack of Coyotes in Bowmanville

(Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada)

My husband and I live in Bowmanville near the edge of town. Two nights ago my husband took our golden retriever for a jog out by Lambs Road.

He was just a few minutes past the old P.O.W. camp when he started to hear the yipping & howling of a pack of Coyotes.

He & the dog turned around & started running as fast as they could back home.

The Coyotes got louder as they were quickly travelling towards them. He didn't stop to look but could hear their feet trampling close by.

He was so scared he was about to let our poor dog go and climb a tree when luckily a truck turned onto the road and scared them off.

He swears they would have attacked them if it hadn't!

This happened at about 9 pm.

Coyotes indeed have packs
by: Anonymous

Coyotes do live in packs, there is a pack of 11 right now in the woods beside our home. They were seen by our neighbor. Others have spotted them out in broad daylight and running in pairs through our neighborhood streets at night. We live South of Hamilton.

I live by Rhonda Park and saw Coyote by the play ground it ran back into the bushes when I stopped the car. I drove ahead bit and the Coyote came back out and stopped near the sidewalk, there was a lady coming down the same side the park is on with her child and a small dog, I told her to go back the other way there's a Coyote up the street. This was around 7:10 pm. Too close for comfort.

I live just north of the tracks off Liberty St. The 2:30 am noise from the Coyotes is a regular occurrence. The sheep farm at the top seems to be quite the attraction for them. I know Coyotes are not supposed to form packs etc., but there are a few together any time I see them in the area. Likely siblings, but still, together.

Stalked by pack of Coyotes

I live by Jackman Road in Bowmanville, I have bin here for 8 years and over the years I have noticed the Coyotes in the last 2 years they have bin around a lot more. I didn't think that they traveled or hunted together, but I have bin proven wrong by seeing them with my own eyes, an this here pack has grown a lot. If I had to guess I would have to say there's some where around 10 or more. If you go down anywhere in that area around 9:00pm or after, you will hear them or even see them. If you do go please go with someone! But I do promises you will hear them, if not see them, and there is a lot of them, so be careful!!

Coyotes don't move or live in packs. They are more afraid of you than you should be of them. Your golden must weigh at least 50 lbs. although your golden may seem timid to you...

Threaten his/ her life and it would surprise you how it would react. I wouldn't worry about it.
