Red Tailed Hawk

I was looking out the window into my backyard yesterday afternoon when I saw a very quick streak flash downwards and hit the ground.

A huge amount of feathers flew into the air immediately after, and when they settled I realized it was a raptor who had pinned a robin to the ground in a dive from the air.

Another a robin immediately flew downwards from the sky and began attacking the raptor, swooping in and out to peck it. The raptor attempted to swat the attacking robin out of air, batting it with it's massive wings but missing every time.

It must've let its talons slip during one of its counterattacks, as the pinned robin somehow freed itself and immediately shot into the air, with the secondary robin and raptor following right away.

The only thing that was left was a massive pile of feathers scattered all over my backyard. Absolutely insane.

I still am uncertain what type of raptor it was, but based on some quick research it seemed to resemble a Red-Tailed Hawk, though I can't say for sure.

Definitely won't be forgetting this any time soon.
