Owl in Newcastle

I went out my back door to grill chicken breasts on the BBQ around 5:30.

I put one on the grill and was seasoning the other when all of a sudden something flew in front of me and landed on the tree about 3-4 feet away.

I looked up to find the owl just staring at me. It was a good 16-18 inches tall.

I ran into the house to get my iPad and came back out to take its picture.
