Barred Owl

Barred Owl

Tonight, December the 8th, I stepped outside for a few minutes of fresh air.

Now, from my balcony I have had the chance to see many birds and critters around, I love my balcony.

Just yesterday I was thinking of all of the different creatures I have seen and I thought it would be really cool to see an owl. I have seen a snowy owl sitting on a wire fence in a field, I have seen a barn owl out in the country. But I have never heard one.

Never did I think I would hear an owl in the city (Cornwall, Ontario) on my balcony, but tonight I did.

At first I thought it was someone playing around with a megaphone, it sounded so loud and echoed. So I just sat and listened and realized it was an owl.

I went inside and researched to find which one it was. I then found it and brought it outside to match the sounds. It echoed the sound from my phone and echoed once again.

I was looking up and around to find where it was coming from and then boom one takes off with the wings so huge from the tree right in front of my balcony and then boom another one follows suit.

The best night ever. The sound of the owls, I found out after from research, was the Barred owl.

What an amazing sound, what a night!
