Little Owl Taken up residence in our wood duck nest box

A little Owl – Short Eared Owl or Screech Owl, has taken up residence in the wood duck box we put up on a tree the other side of our pond.

He has been here for just over three weeks now I do hope he will stay and perhaps raise a family in the ducks box.

I don’t really know how he can get in and out of the box or even climb up on the inside as it is a hotdog shaped box made of solid plastic and it is much longer than he is.

I have been on the web searching for a photo that looks like him but so far have not found anything that I can definitely say “That’s Him", but your picture of a Screech owl (above) looking out of the hole in a tree is a pretty good match.

We have not tried to get a photo we don't want to scare him away.
