Large White cat like creature

by Brad Fallowfield
(St. Thomas / Sparta)

We are fortunate to live in an area with plenty of wild life (near St Thomas). I have twice watched a large white cat-like animal, move along a tree line.

The first sighting I thought my eyes were playing tricks and this was just a big cat, but the second sighting I was able to confirm the size by the comparison of the space between the trees.

This is no domestic cat, but I can't find any reference for this all white creature.

10:00am March 13 sitting, then ran because our dog barked

08:30am March 16, walking in a tree line beside the road

I'm going to look for tracks, but it's raining

Brad

Thanks for this report Brad, I have no idea what this animal could be - there really shouldn't be any large, white cat-like animals roaming around here, but who knows!

Perhaps something escaped from someone's collection of exotic pets.

If you see it again or have a picture of the tracks or the animal, please send us an update.

Albino Lynx (Bobcat)
by: Anonymous

Spotted in Leamington, Ontario, slowly walking across a parking lot at night. Watched it from a second story balcony, thought it was a large house cat from a distance but as it got closer, I thought maybe it was a cougar from how large it was. After googling images of albino Bobcats, I am fairly certain this is what it was. It didn't have the distinctive fluffy fur of a bobcat, which is why I didn't consider it until I saw some pictures of the albino ones. Quite rare it seems, although maybe there is a gene pool of them in Southern Ontario.

I live in South Carolina and I had my cat outside because I was checking the mail pretty early in the morning. I turn around because my cat is loudly meowing, and I see this most elegant white creature. It looks like a cat, but was really tall. It tried to attack my cat but we scared it off when we shot at it. We tried to google what it was but could find nothing but these comments.

Big cat sighting, London Ontario Canada
by: Anonymous

Big cat, also white spotted at close range by myself and two others by a wooded area behind the London East Home Depot in November 2020. The consensus amongst the witnesses is that it was likely a Lynx or bobcat however we could not rule out other possibilities.

Big White Cat
by: Anonymous

I live in Illinois close to Freeport and it was about 5 am in the morning. I was leaving a friend's house and in the yard next door I noticed a large white cat it stood there one of its legs was raised as it turned and looked at me. Most beautiful color white - its eyes had like a yellow glow to them. It took off like it was never there - swift, no sound of running. Its tail was really long.

Large white cat spotted near Bancroft
by: Sarah

Hi - I have been searching to try to find out what my friends and I saw last weekend, just north of Bancroft on Highway 62. We saw it in the distance running very quickly across a field, cross the highway in front of us, and continue running across someone's front lawn and then disappear. It was very fast, pure white, and had a cat-like face, but was more the size of a medium or large dog. I thought it was bigger than a fox but hard to say as it was moving so quickly.

Huge white cat
by: Anonymous

I just had my dog tied out and she began barking. I went outside to see and there was a huge white cat, but fluffy, unlike these other comments. I thought my eyes were crazy until it stopped and looked right at my dog and I. It was NOT a dog. Moved very elegantly and with purpose. I immediately came in and tried to Google what is was but could find nothing except these comments. I live on a mountain in Virginia, but have never seen anything like this.

Looks like Possum
by: Anonymous

In Windsor, Ontario, I saw a large white possum-like creature about 3 am in front of a big pine tree in the yard. It was way too big to be a Possum but its not a Bobcat either. I'm so glad others have seen it. The face is possum but its the size of a larger breed dog like Lab. All white & moves really fast. When it finally noticed me it darted to a row of thick trees by thee road. I crept swiftly after it but it was gone or doing a great job hiding! Strangest creature I've ever seen!

Strange White animal outside of Toronto
by: Anonymous

I saw a big white animal just outside of Toronto. I thought it was a big white dog at first but then I noticed there were no people around and it was so late at night (3:30am). It moved very unlike a dog. It moved with an elegance to it, and like it was very wild. I kept watching it and wondered if it was some kind of cat, but it was too big to be a cat. It was pure white. I own cats and dogs and this animal just didn't seem anywhere close to how they move. I looked up albino foxes, and albino bobcats, cougars and albino wolves, and still I have no idea. Whatever it was it was beautiful. Then animals are albino like this it's so hard to tell what it could be since the white colour makes them look so different. My only guess is it was either an albino large fox, cougar or even some kind of albino coyote. Eventually it ran across a parking lot and ran towards the lake. It was too far away to see it at this point but I've been looking for it ever since. It moved in a "wild" type way, like it was very careful and looked like it was hunting.

Large 'Not-domestic' White Cat seen
by: Anonymous

Two sightings now. Two months ago sitting atop our 8' wooden fence early a.m. heavy fog condition. Last night crossing the street about 7 pm, cool temp and clear. It's size is close to a Labrador retriever, bright white and definitely feline in posture and gait. Couldn't make out tail length. In the Northeastern Illinois area. Would love to be able to get a picture of this creature or see one posted.

Sighted Large Whitish cat-like wild creature
by: From Stonington CT

Back in 2014, sighted very large white cat-like creature, 3 times bigger than a large domestic cat. Saw long puffy white tail (like my domestic cat). It prowled the bird feeding area along the wood line, then disappeared into the woods.
what was it? We have no idea.

Big White Creature
by: Anonymous

I saw one in Montreal about 13 years ago, it was hiding in the bushes, barley noticed it, till we got a little closer, then it jumped on all fours, and started moving left and right, like an attack mode. Man, did we run the hell away, never ran so fast in my life, never saw it again, didn't see the face, but the body seemed to be a white like fur.

Large white cat like animal
by: Carol

Just this morning at about 5:35 am I was taking my fiance to work. We just turned off our road and saw two large white cat like animals. They were not the size of house cats. I have seven cats and these were the size of dogs! We couldnt get a clear look at them because it wasnt daylight yet and they were in the bushes along the fence line. My headlights shined on them as we turned the corner. They were solid white and their bellies seemed to hang low, like they were thick. Also I live in central Arkansas.

Hi! My money is on a Bobcat. Watch out for the tail. A bobcats tail is very short. Because of light situations it may appear white. Try taking a picture.

I walked up to one this morning
by: Anonymous

A large pure white cat-like creature chased me in the woods this morning, so I stopped and it stopped too. I walked up to it, it's a large version of some kind of cougar thing, I believe, bobcat or opossum is too small.

What is this prowling the treeline
by: Anonymous

Camping at Fanshawe Park this past week and saw what appeared to be a very large while cat (way too big for a domestic) with black on tail, walking the treeline after dinner. When the feline appeared all the ground hogs that were in the field scattered and hid, just wondering what we saw.....

Large feline
by: Anonymous

April 24th, London, Ontario, Canada. I've seen the same thing, it was a feline, it scared our cat I ran out and saw it jump over the fence. No idea what it was, but it looked like a large domestic cat at first, then the movement of it running was like a Cougar, hind legs overlapping when it ran. No idea what it was. Fanshawe Park Road and Adelaide Street area, Blackwater Rd, London.
