Interesting looking Hawk

width="465"

I had an interesting looking Hawk sitting in a tree in our backyard in Grimsby, in a residential area for a good 15 minutes.

He had a fan shaped tail that was white and grey/brown stripes and his back was spotted like a fawns.

He was a small Hawk but I've never seen this kind before.

I should have taken a picture but didn't expect him to be back by the time I went for a camera.

Does anyone know what kind it might have been?

I was reading about your bird of prey sighting of a smaller hawk species and I am fairly certain what you had observed was a Broad-Winged Hawk. Look it up and I think you may agree this is what you saw.
