Coyotes out in the day time

by Lola Ross

Today I was on the phone in my kitchen looking out to my backyard. I was totally surprised by the appearance of a Coyote.

At first I thought maybe it was a dog, but as it came closer into my eye sight, it was obvious that the creature was a Coyote.

I was extremely surprised to see a Coyote in the park but also at 1:00 in the afternoon. I know that coyotes usually hunt around dusk.

I called my mother to the kitchen to verify that it was a Coyote. She couldn't believe it either.

The coyote paced back and forth for a little while, then turned his head and speed off towards the creek.

It was on a bike path that the city has put in through Sherwood Forest Park right neat the baseball diamonds. A lot of people walk their dogs in this area and let them off the leash.

I just hope people with little dogs are more careful.

Again this was on December 28th 2011, at 1:00 in the afternoon, in Sherwood Forest Park by the bike path and baseball diamonds.

Day time, night time. I have seen them many times during the day. They are brave to a point.

If you have what they want, as in small animals, keep your eyes open. It has been noted that, they will run up from behind and, snatch your animal before your eyes.

They haven`t come past my door for some time now. I see there is a Wolf in the field so, that might be why.

I have by chance, hit him with my spot light at night.

We seem to just know it is a good thing to respect one another's distance.
