Coyote chases cat

by Alison
(Paris, Ontario, Canada)

I live in Paris, Ontario. On June 25, 2014 at 8:30 pm my cat came running across the lawn, faster than I've ever seen before.

It leaped into some shrubbery and my other cats immediately became terrified, their fur standing on end, and running to hide.

I came outside to see what was causing the commotion, and that is when I discovered what I at first assumed was a dog that had been chasing my cat.

However, when it looked at me, the first thing I noticed was its distinctive yellowish-brown eyes.

I had never seen a dog with eyes like that and my first thought was that it was a wolf, because it had similar features, but after checking online, I am positive it was a Coyote.

When it saw me, it immediately ran off, and that was the last I saw of it.

Sometimes late at night I have heard them howling but this was my first sighting.

I love nature and animals, but I hope I don't have to worry about this happening again in the future.

I'm glad your cats are safe, just keep your eye on them.

I hope the Coyotes are just travelling though your area and that you don't see them again, but as long as you are hearing them, you have to figure they have taken up residence in your area.

Coyotes in Paris
by: Mark

My Brother and his Family live in Paris, Ontario, just a few blocks from the Grand River. On several occasions we have routinely spotted Coyotes travelling close to wooded areas and following the river.
