Bald Eagle Spotted Flying down the Weir in Port Colborne

Yesterday morning at 10:00 am I was walking my dogs down by Derek's Point in Port Colborne.

As we walked alongside the weir, enjoying the very loud voices of 100 or more Canada geese, terns and ducks, we were surprised to see a very large bird soar straight up the middle of the bridge.

This massive wing span caught my eye and silenced all the birds enjoying the water.

I stood still and watched this bird get closer and closer to the pedestrian bridge located by the old Robin Hood mill.

As the bird came closer I spotted it's white head and matching tail feathers as it passed us and landed in a large tree on the west side of the weir right beside the pedestrian bridge.

I watched as it sat for almost 40 minutes enjoying the sun!

It was a spectacular day!

I saw an adult Bad Eagle flying south down Canal Bank St in Welland today around 4pm. We also have a Coopers Hawk that hunts regularly in the neighborhood and our backyard for Sparrows. 🙂

We were walking along the trails on Merritt Island, Welland when we spotted a Bald Eagle sitting in a tree and then flew over us.

I saw 2 bald eagles just a few days ago flying over the Welland canal and Welland River 2 days in a row.. I was in awe. I have never seen Bald Eagles in Ontario before. If I’m correct the date was between Tuesday and Friday in the last week of August.

Hi there! I live in Beamsville just at the edge of the escarpment and have had two sightings in the last 4 days over my property. We have lived here for 5 years and this is the first time I have seen one. Was not expecting that!

Walking the dog on March 15th 2019 on the canal in Dain City and two Bald eagles were sitting in the ice. We didn’t have our cells to photograph them but someone did so hoping they post it soon.

Fairly certain I spotted a Bald Eagle circling over the canal today (by the Wellness centre in Welland), unfortunately no camera with me.

We heard some bird noises and saw three Bald Eagles in our tree. They let us get close. I have never seen them around before.

I've seen him (I'm guessing him because of his size) about 6 times flying the length of the weir in the last month. On Wednesday afternoon around 4:00 pm he was out on the ice in Reebs Bay. He's a magnificent and his wing span is massive.

I live close to the weir and the two Bald Eagles are here every day. They sit in the trees and are just majestic. From beavers in the summer to this! W ow the weir has so much nature it’s a great place to explore.
