Surprising Owl Spotting

by Donna Blackmore
(Paris, Ontario, Canada)

I was walking the morning of Tuesday March 11, around 6:00 a.m. in Paris, Ontario. I saw movement in an evergreen shrub to my right as I walked down a residential street.

As I walked closer a large bird flew out of the bush and across the street where I was walking.

I was delighted to identify that the bird was an Owl but I do not know what kind of owl it was.

It looked to be medium sized in body and quite a large wing span. My guess is that it was light - medium brown but it was hard to tell because at 6:00 a.m. it is still dark outside.

As I said earlier I was absolutely delighted to see this wonderful creature and I hope I can see it again.

Unfortunately, I do not have a photo - it happened so fast and I did not have time to get my phone camera ready.
