Resting Tundra Swans

Resting Tundra Swans

On Friday March 11, 2011 in a field just east of Sarnia, Ontario, there were about 50-60 Tundra Swans mixed with a couple of hundred geese and ducks.

Thanks for your report and for the great picture!

The birds were resting on their long journey north-ward to their Arctic breeding grounds - I have read that the trip takes them almost three months, so they do rest and feed in this area on their way north.
