Robins return on the coldest day of the year

As Environment Canada issued extreme cold weather warning with wind chill values expected to continue to be in the -35 C to -40 C range, the Robins didn't seem to mind.

While more than 200 flights were cancelled at Toronto's Pearson Airport due to the frigid temperatures, the Robins cheerfully flew into our Franconia Drive gardens in Missisauga, on Sunday February 15, 2015.

They celebrated for their arrival by the usual "spring" harvest feast of our Pyracantha berries and mini crabapples.

According to CTV report, Sunday was the coldest day of the year so far in 2015.

As you can see in the picture, the plump Robin sitting in our weeping Crabapple tree is well fed.

They're Back!
by: Anonymous

It is March 1 2015 and I saw a flock of maybe 25 to 30 Robins, and I actually heard a few singing. I have never heard them sing this early and this cold. Are they the migratory ones or the ones that stayed over?

This guy probably never left, as not all Robins migrate.
