Not sure what type but it was impressive

Hello, I have been searching the Internet looking for a good source of Ontario birds of prey pictures.

I happened upon your site and am excited for your picture section being completed.

Details: it appeared on September 2, 2012 at about 6:30pm. It landed on my uncle's fence in Mississauga, ON, which is mere steps from access to the Credit River valley just south of Eglinton bridge, and it seemed to be checking us out!

The whole party was stunned, and it only remained there for 5-8 seconds until the attention scared it off into an evergreen tree, never to be seen again.

Seemed like some sort of hawk or eagle or falcon, impressive talons and beak, and a very distinctive yellow outline along the edge of it chest and wings as it perched on the fence, I will say it was beige to taupe to a mauveish grey.

I am very curious what type of bird this was.

Thank you for sending us this report of your raptor sighting - perhaps one of our readers will be able to identify this bird from your description.

By the colours you have mentioned, my guess is a Peregrine Falcon.

Hi, I was just wondering if you happen to get an estimate of the size of the bird at all? The yellow outline is throwing me off a little bit, and did you happen to see any colors of the tail?
