I came to Canada back in the 1970s

When I came to Canada I was in my early 20s and emigrated here on my own.

The first few months were lonely but I got on with the guys I worked with and I soon made friends and it was through one of my friends at work that I met my wife.

My mate was having a BBQ and invited me along, I think he felt sorry for me.

Anyway, one of his wife's friends was there and we talked for a bit, as you do, and we got along really well – she had a cute Canadian accent!

We have been married for 35 years now and have three adult children.

If I hadn't come to this country I wouldn't have had the great life I have had – no regrets from me!
