Bald Eagle in St Catharines

I was just crossing Ontario Street to take up my post as a crossing guard in St. Catharines, Ontario, when a Bald Eagle gracefully soared overhead.

The Eagle was quite low and just magnificent to see.

He continued to follow a Southward path up the street, before making a turn to fly over Jaycee Park.

This is my third Eagle sighting in two years, but the very first one at such close range.

It truly made my day!

Thrilling
by: Fiona

I back onto the 12 Mile Creek and am an avid bird watcher. Nothing could’ve prepared me for the sight of the unmistakable Bald Eagle soaring through my backyard on December 13 @ 8.15 am and again on December 24 @ 8.30 am, travelling north above the creek. Breathtaking!

Bald Eagle soars down Vine St.
by: Serena

I definitely saw this incredible creature floating above my car this morning as I drove down Vine St. It was really picking up speed, we were both headed in the same direction and I couldn't keep up at 60 km. Then suddenly it was no longer in view. I looked back and saw a patch of trees, with a few large nests (near Old Pine Trail).... So amazing!

St Catharines BALD EAGLE scoops squirrel
by: mark massei

In the middle of Vine street, Bald Eagle on top of squirrel (squirrel seemingly recently hit by car).
We pulled over to get a picture and the car behind us and car in front of us pulled over. We knew we were seeing a rare Bald Eagle sighting.
I think our car pull overs gave it the extra few seconds it needed to get full squirrel grip and flew off slowly with it in it's claws. Amazing sighting! I thought i'd have to go to Alaska to see a Bald Eagle. I hope to see it again soon!

Bald Eagle Sighting
by: Jack

We live in the Cherry Lane subdivision in the north end and spotted large Bald Eagle flying all around. We think he may have spotted a dead squirrel on Trelawne Drive and kept circling it. He was flying very low and was majestic indeed.
What a thrill to see him.

Spotted Bald Eagle
by: Anonymous

Wednesday September 4 at 7:30 am I spotted a Bald Eagle by Happy Ralphs in St Catharines sitting on top a hydro pole eating. It then took flight, it was huge. What a sight to see.
