Bald Eagle in Lake Scugog, Port Perry

Bald Eagle in tree

Bald Eagle in tree

We live at the north end of Scugog Island in Port Perry, Ontario - great birding spot, just south west of the Crown lands.

My wife was home with our 6 month old son today and a Bald Eagle landed in the trees with a carp (a big carp!).

We have had Ospreys around here, but this was really neat to see.

Soon after landing and tearing the carp to bits, the eagle was mobbed by crows and didn't get to stay around too long.

Hopefully we will see it again.

Was driving east over the causeway April 5/23.
Seen a bald eagle on the ice, had to take a second, third look 👀 Couldn’t believe my eyes, wow very cool. Then I found this link when I googled it to find out if I was crazy lol.

Five Bald Eagles Scugog highway 7
by: Johnny

I was driving right by the Blue Heron casino and I saw at least three Bald Eagles. There could have been five. They were eating in a field. Looked like turkeys but when I got closer I realized they were eagles. I can't imagine other birds would be that close to eagles. I don't know. I couldn't turn around cause I had a tractor trailer. February 22 2023.

Sotted a Bald Eagle
by: Bruno

While I relaxed in my hot tub this morning January 3, 2023,I spotted a large bird of prey perched on a branch of a dead tree. Once I exited the tub and dried off, I picked up a pair of binoculars and was surprised that it was a Bald Eagle! Never saw one in this area before. I'm just north of Seagrave West of Sonya. What a delightful surprise. Will keep my eyes open for hopefully more sightings.

Bald Eagle???

I thought I saw a bald eagle this morning flying over my car right at Reader Road and 7a. I thought I might be seeing things but then I found some of the comments here so at least it's possible.

I am 90% sure I just saw a young Bald stand on the ice by the open water, then it was flying with an adult one, I think. I have seen the adults once before.

Bald Eagle on Lake Scugog

We have a cottage on Scugog Point and have seen a Bald Eagle three times this summer. Very exciting to see this magnificent bird flying overhead and then picking up a fish out on the lake and carrying it off to the swamp at the end of the point.

I just googled to see if this bird was possible to be in this area. I saw it in the day over the lake in Starr Bay and it was just sitting on our TV antenna for hours. The pic on my iPad is not too good. But I've heard others mention it. Pretty cool.
