Amherst Island

I lived on Amherst Island for 18 years, my backyard was a stopping spot for many birds including a Northern Shrike pair, a pair of Bluebirds, Harriers, Red Tails, Bald Eagles and Saw Whet Owls, a Rock Neck turtle dove, and every duck you could imagine.

As I was waiting for the ferry one day a huge bird flew over the boat and everyone asked what that bird was, it was a Golden Eagle.

I miss the birds of Amherst Island, it really is a wonderful birding area, if you visit please ask permission to enter a person's property.
