2011 Robins

(St Thomas, Ontario, Canada)

This afternoon, sighted near St Thomas, Ontario, March 12th, a small flock of around ten Robins, the first ones I have seen since last fall.

There should soon be more of them arriving, and that is when we will know that Spring has really arrived!

I pity the poor unsuspecting Robins who have migrated northward, expecting to find freshly growing grass, along with plump and juicy worms underneath - a buffet for the birds!

But this year, we are still coping with a heavy snow fall, and I wonder what the birds are going to eat if they can't get to their usual foods.
