What Do Hawks Eat?

I heard if Hawks are hungry enough they could swoop down and pick up a small dog, is that true?

I know they are amazingly strong birds.

What is their History here in Ontario?

There are so many types of Hawks - which one is the most dangerous one?

Thanks for the information.

I don't think that a Hawk would be able to scoop up a small dog, other than a puppy, so you don't have to worry about your full grown dogs.

There are many migratory Hawks in Ontario, which spend the summer here, and them migrate farther south for the winter. Other Hawks spend their summers farther north, and come here for the winter.

None of the Hawks are dangerous to mankind, and we have Red Tailed Hawks, Cooper's Hawks, Sharp Shinned Hawks, Falcons, Harriers, Kestrels - many Hawks, and we also have the occasional Bald Eagle nesting around Southern Ontario

Hawks
by: Darlene

I see hawks all the time. There's usually a breeding pair in the Don River ravine every summer.
They won't grab a dog, but a pigeon can make a nice lunch. I've noticed how all the smaller birds disappear when the hawks are in the area.
