Turkey Vultures - from National Geographic

I was traveling south on Airport Road just past Mayfield Road in Brampton, Ontario, when I saw what I thought to be a Turkey perched on a fence.

I soon realized it wasn't a Turkey, I was so intrigued by what I saw I threw my car in reverse to have another look.

Upon closer inspection I realized it was a bird I've never seen before - just the look of them and the fact that they were feeding on a dead raccoon in a ditch made me think they had to be some sort of vulture; but how could this be we don't have vultures in Ontario?

So I did a google search "vultures in Ontario" and I came across your website "Discover Southern Ontario".

I found the article on Turkey Vultures to be very informative and well written, thank you for the knowledge.

I've lived in Ontario my whole life and didn't know we had such interesting birds living amongst us.

You're most welcome, and thank you for your kind comments.

I am glad you found our website interesting - I love my website, as I love Southern Ontario!
