Turkey Vulture at Belwood Lake

by Linda Warren
(Belwood Lake Conservation Area, Ontario)

My son and I spotted what was undoubtedly a Turkey Vulture, several times on the dock at our cottage on Belwood Lake (near Fergus) during the second week of July 2010.

We judged it's wingspan to be almost a meter and it had it's spectacular red turkey head with black/grey body - amazing!

Barb says: Thanks for telling our readers about your sighting of the Turkey Vulture, which can have a 2 meter wingspan when full grown - they are impressive birds for sure!
