Tundra Swans over Tillsonburg

by Maurice Francis
(Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada)

Migrating Tundra Swans

Migrating Tundra Swans

Maurice, one of our readers, sent us this report of his sighting of Tundra Swans - I saw several "V" shaped formations of huge white birds flying overhead at about 9:30 this morning, Thursday March 11, 2010.

Since they were quite high up I could not identify them for sure, but I believe they were Tundras.

They were bigger than Canada Geese and their calls were louder than Canada Geese. They flew overhead where I live, in Tillsonburg Ontario.

I was unable to capture the sight on digital. So you'll just have to beleive what I say I saw!

Thanks Maurice, it is a lovely sight to see isn't it? Tundra Swans in their beautiful "V" formation. Thank you for your report.

Here is a YouTube video - I took this yesterday, March 11 2010, not far from where you are - Aylmer Wildlife Management Area.
