Turkey Vulture in Waterloo

Suburban Waterloo.

I'm not sure what's dead around here, but this Turkey Vulture sat on a streetlight and our roof.

Thanks for the pictures ... maybe he was waiting for something to die or just taking a rest and hanging out on your roof.

I can't tell from the picture, but did this bird have a red head, or a black head?

If it had a black head then it would be a rarer Black Vulture - Turkey Vultures are scavengers and only eat food that is already dead, but the Black Vulture has been known to hunt, although they are not usually this far north, but it isn't unheard of for them to be seen in this area.

Please send me a comment and let me know if it definitely had a red head or not - it would be interesting to know.
