Lake Simcoe Eagles

by Steven and Lauraanne
(Alcona, Ontario, Canada)

On March 14th 2011, while ice fishing on Lake Simcoe, north of Fox Island, my wife and I watched a lone Bald Eagle swoop down where another group had been fishing, and pick something up.

Just another reason to not leave garbage behind. But it was nice to see the bird. We also saw a pair of Eagles soring high above Lake Simcoe from downtown Alcona about two weeks before.

It is nice to see these birds coming back. Let us hope they become more common, but no less majestic.

Thank you for your report - it is good to know that the Eagles are thriving again in this area - my hope is that they are here for future generations to enjoy.
