January 19, 2011 Kitchener, Ontario

by Kevin
(Kitchener, Ontario)

Kevin, one of our readers, sent us this report of his Coyote sighting - at 9:30 am, January 19th, 2011 I saw a reddish, light-brown Coyote at the edge of the woods behind our property.

We have lots of rabbits and I have a complex of bird feeders there.

We live in the Southwest area of Kitchener near the 401 and Homer Watson Blvd.

At 2:30am we heard what sounded like a rabbit being preyed upon in the tall grass/weeds in the same area behind our house late in the Spring of 2010.

Neighbours nearby have said they have heard Coyotes.

We have lived here 3 years now and I have seen dead and trotting Coyotes on the roads and fields nearby, but never one this close.

Coyote update
by: Kevin

Local Kitchener radio station "570 News" reported that early this morning a Coyote attacked and seriously injured a 5lb Chihuahua right in the owner's front yard.

The attack occurred only a few kilometres from where I live.
