Hawk visitor

by Dan
(Georgetown, Ontario)

S/he just popped in out of nowhere into our suburban back yard (granted our development surrounded on 3 sides by farm lands). Not sure if its a Coopers Hawk or Red Tailed. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Dan

Cool Sighting
by: Lisa Birtch

It was definitely not a Red Tail - the bird's tail in your picture has black bands on it.

I would guess either a Sharp Shin or a Coopers Hawk. The Coopers Hawk seems to be more common!

Keep your eyes peeled and your camera handy - if you could get a picture of it's whole tail or a flight picture you could know for sure much more easily!

Good Luck!
