Golden Eagle Sighting?

by Eric
(Barrie, Ontario, Canada)

Hi all,

I was recently driving at the split in Barrie Ontario. For those of you who don't know what that means, it is where the highway splits between highway 11 and highway 400.

I saw a bird, which I first thought was an Owl but saw it a couple weeks later, and think it is a Golden Eagle.

Has anyone else seen this bird? It often sits on the sign in the field when you follow hwy 400.

Thanks for this report of your Eagle sighting - if anyone sends us info, we'll post it here

One landed on my car
by: Kelly

I work in South Oakville, Ontario, and my coworker called me out to show me the huge bird standing on the roof of my car, it was gigantic, over 2 feet tall.

It wasn't a Hawk or an Owl. I just looked it up and listened to the sounds it makes, which I heard pretty distinctly when I approached my car.

He stood there for approximately 10 minutes, poking around the edges of the sun roof and making noise.

Perhaps about to migrate south?

Pair of Golden Eagles
by: Anonymous

I was fishing on Chelsea Lake near Westport, Ontario, (2011-09-04) and saw a pair of Golden Eagles perched in a very tall pine along the waters edge.

golden eagle siting
by: Anonymous

I have seen a Golden Eagle flying over our farm (located in King City, Ontario). Once I saw the bird gliding over our 15 year old Jack Russell. He was about 8 feet above us and luckily several small birds were attacking him and caused him to lose balance. I have seen the bird 2 other times but not such a close distance. I have never seen a Gold Eagle here before. Normally, we see Hawks and a Horned Owl on the farm.
Earlier the summer we also spotted a Bald Eagle in Georgian Bay flying over an Island Called American Camp. Stunning! One of our neighbors at Thunder Beach saw a Bald Eagle on the Point. I hear that these large birds are making a comeback to Ontario
