Coyote sighting

(Oakville, Ontario)

I was out with my dog this morning at around 6:30 am. He stopped for a minute near the green space at Mowat Avenue & River Oaks Blvd.

As I was waiting for him I looked down the green space and saw a Coyote sitting just off the path about 20 feet from me.

I picked up my dog (a Bichon Frise) and walked the opposite way. When I turned around to make sure he wasn't following me, the one Coyote was crossing Mowat Avenue with another one right behind.

I have been told by others in the neighbourhood they have seen Coyotes, but this was my first up close encounter. I found it a little intimidating especially when my dog would be a perfect little snack!

You were wise to pick up your dog and not continue your journey - you're right, your little pet could have been a tasty breakfast for those two!
