Coyote Encounters

Tina from Burlington wrote to say ... Just yesterday I was getting into my car on Harvester Road in Burlington near Guelph line. A Coyote passed right in front of me, perhaps 8 feet away. He didn't seem to care that I was there and proceeded through an open field. He wasn't running, just walking at a quick pace. At first I thought it was a Wolf. It scared me just the same. I was surprised to see it so close to populated area.

Dave from Ajax, Ontario, wrote to say ... I just saw two Coyotes in south Ajax on Ebony Street. I was frightened, however they showed very little interest in me as they continued on their journey through various backyards.

Victor from Burlington, Ontario tells us ... We saw two very healthy Coyotes in our back yard on Glenwood School Drive in Burlington Ontario. It was 11.00 am Saturday December 21st. They jumped over the fence into the yard next door and disappeared. We have a German Shepherd who was in the house at the time.

A reader from Brampton says ... Since the ice storm before Christmas I have heard the Coyotes night after night between the hours of 4:00 - 6:30 am. Tonight, right at midnight I heard them again so I jumped up and sure enough I saw 4 of them running from the street back into Calvert Park. Its sad to know these animals have to play in our parks due to their homes being ripped down to build houses for an ever growing population. Hence, we must learn to co-habit.
