Bald Eagle sighting in Innisfil

by Paul Kent
(Innisfil, Ontario, Canada)

Today the 14th May 2013 at about 12.30pm I was sitting in my workshop at the rear of my house, I live in Innisfil on the 25th Side Road, between the 9th and 10th line.

My house is about 1 km west of lake Simcoe, Ontario.

I was just sitting in the workshop looking out of the large window and the eagle came flying straight towards me heading west from the lake.

It was only about 40 feet of the ground and flew between two 60 foot pine trees in my garden.

I am 67 years old and this is only the second time I have ever seen one in the wild. It took my breath away as it was so close and in motion, as it got close just before it went over the workshop I could see its eyes, yellow beak and white head very clear.

It had a massive wing span over six feet and seemed to be out for an afternoon stroll it was making slow steady wing flaps as it went by.

At the rear of my shop is about four kilometers of thick bush with tall trees and is a conservation area.

Just before I came in to search the Internet I could see it gliding in the updrafts over the 10th line probably over a 1,000 feet up.

I will remember this moment for the rest of my life, I have flown in Concord from New York to Paris but this flight experience was better and is priceless.

Thank you so much for telling us about your Eagle sighting ... how wonderful!

Juvenile Bald Eagle in lnnisfil yesterday
by: Jamie

We saw one unexpectedly close yesterday 10th Line west of the 20th side road. He was a Juvenile Bald Eagle on the telephone line and allowed us to pull over and inspect him before he ‘moved along’.

Lost brother earlier this year sighting of Bald Eagle on Christmas Eve xo
by: Anonymous

Earlier this year I lost my only sibling... my brother, he was an avid hunter/fisherman. We were super close and I miss him desperately. Normally, I love Christmas ... but this year I was dreading it. While driving to my mother's on Christmas Eve I saw a young Bald Eagle flying near the 25th side road and the 9th line in Innisfil, Ontario. I couldn't believe my eyes .... I almost ended up in the ditch ... I have never seen one before and never expected to see one in town ... just something I expected lived in remote secluded areas. It warmed my heart to see this Bald Eagle - not sure of its significance, but it made me feel close to my brother. Miss you so much Shane ...love u

Jim and I setting in my living room saw a Bald Eagle and an Osprey land in my tree, with a younger bird, Osprey maybe that decided not to land. This was amazing as they hung out for 10 minutes.
It is the second time in a week I have seen the Eagle. If you want to see the tree by google its 237 Bayshore Road, Churchill, Innisfil L0L1K0. Happy New Year an Eagle and Osprey has landed!

Davy Point Keswick
by: Corinne

This morning I woke up and saw five Bald Eagles sitting on an old willow tree. We have had one there every morning for four days, but today five were here. I would imagine that they are one family. Davy Point is on Cooks Bay and they are looking for the fish.

Beautiful Bald Eagle near Innisfil
by: Anonymous

I saw a beautiful Bald Eagle yesterday afternoon, March 1st 2014. I had just passed 89 and was driving southbound along highway 11. If it weren't for the ginormous snow banks I would have pulled over to watch it soar a little longer. What a wonderful experience.

Just seen my first Bald Eagle in the wild in a field off the 9th line of Innisfil, Ontario, on December 28th 2013 at around 1:00 pm. It had some prey in it's talons, I could not believe I saw one in Innisfil!
