Bald Eagle near Thamesford

March 21, 2011 approximately 2:30pm I noticed a huge bird flying just south of Thamesford near the Thames river.

From a distance, I thought it was a Turkey Vulture, but as I drove closer, I noticed the white head and tail.

I've lived in the area all my life and had never seen a Bald Eagle here before.

Truly majestic and a good sign of Canada's ecological efforts.

Thanks for letting us know about your Bald Eagle sighting.

I have seen them near the Thames River on Wonderland Road (at the Guy Lombardo bridge), flying high over Cherry Hill Mall on Oxford St, and I hear that they are nesting near Fanshawe Conservation Area.

Bald Eagle Sighting
by: Anonymous

August 7, 2011

I was travelling along highway 402, just before the Delaware, Ontario, exit, and spotted two Bald Eagles, I believe they were male and female.

They were at the top of a dead tree along the highway.

I thought it was two Vultures, but when I got closer, realized that it was Bald Eagles.

The sun was just coming out after a brief rain shower and they looked beautiful sitting there in the tree.
