Wild Boar by Lake Simcoe

Driving home to my house just south of Island Grove on the shore of Lake Simcoe, I saw a short-haired grey animal cross the road in front of me, heading for the lake.

It was stocky, had a long snout and legs like a mid-sized dog, a flat back.

It was not an Opossum (too small) and its back was too flat.

After researching pictures of animals, I believe it was a Wild Boar.

It was seen on November 17, 2011 at 8 p.m. on Lake Drive North.

Wow, that is interesting, I wonder if any other readers have spotted this animal in your area. If you have, please let us know.

I saw a Wild Boar too
by: Dale

I live near Belwood Lake and came home to find my two dogs had cornered what I thought was a black lab. When I got closer I realized it was a black, very wide, long haired pig with tusks.

If anyone else sees it please tell me. My dogs seem to have bit it a few times in the butt.

Wild boar sighting
by: Anonymous

This doesnt sound like a wild boar. Although extremely rare to see in Ontario, we just had two run across the road in front of us this morning north of Ajax. They are very round backed and distinctly look like black hogs. Mighty ugly with longer hair and nasty tusks.
