Possums downtown Toronto

I have a Possum, possibly two of them, hanging out around my house in the Spadina & Harbord neighbourhood.

It's possible it's living under my addition at the back of the house because last year it started to smell funky back there, especially during the day.

The smell kind of emanates from the floor (there's no basement under that part of the house).

Time to remove the deck to look!

I don't know how they are dealing with this winter!

Harbord & Spadina sighting
by: Anonymous

Hi Elaine, I am also in the Harbord & Spadina area, and had a good long look this evening while walking my dog in one of the alleys (on a leash thank goodness). I had the Little Dog sit, and we all just regarded each other for a while. I have seen it a few times before but never completely in the open or for so long. It pleases me, in that wildlife evidences a healthy and multi-competent environment. Also Raccoons and Opossums are enemies of rats, which would be a more difficult problem. This one did not quite match the images that Google kicks up. They have an all-white head, or a central grey stripe. This white on this one was more like a diamond - the jewel - the white was a simple-kite shape.

Possum in St Catharines
by: Yvonne

I just saw a Possum come out of the ceiling in my porch - it ran to the next yard. I heard it for days in the ceiling and now I saw for myself!

Yes I was actually just by there and a Possum hit my leg as I walked past leaving my friends house, at the back of his house. I thought is that a cat, a raccoon or possum.
