Not sure what type but it was impressive

Hello, I have been searching the Internet looking for a good source of Ontario birds of prey pictures. I happened upon your site and am excited for your picture section being completed.

Details: It appeared on September 2, 2012 at about 6:30pm. It landed on my uncle's fence in Mississauga, Ontario, which is mere steps from access to the Credit River valley just south of Eglinton bridge, and it seemed to be checking us out!

The whole party was stunned, and it only remained there for 5-8 seconds until the attention scared it off into an evergreen tree, never to be seen again.

Seemed like some sort of Hawk or Eagle, impressive talons and beak, and a very distinctive yellow outline along the edge of it chest and wings as it perched on the fence, I will say it was grey, but it was a warm grey with almost a little mauve tint to in it.
I am very curious what type of bird it was.

Thanks for telling us about your Hawk sighting - I'm not sure what it could be, but perhaps one of our readers will know!
