Harrow Coyotes

by A Reader
(Harrow)

One of our readers writes - In January of 2011 I observed two Coyotes in an open field about 200 feet from my house.

One stayed in the open about ten minutes, the second one would only remain in the open for a minute then back into the trees.

The next morning, there were tracks of 2 Coyotes in the fresh snow 10 feet from the house.

The following morning there were tracks of 2 Coyotes, on the porch (porch wraps around 3/4 of the house}, and the next two mornings the same.

A few days later I watched one walk across the farm field about 100 feet from my house.

In the eleven years I have lived here, I have never seen a Coyote or even tracks.

HARROW, COYOTES
by: Anonymous

This summer (2011) 3 Coyotes came into our yard and took 2 of our cats right off the front porch. Unbelievable.

They dragged the cats off before we could rescue them. We have since completed a run for the remaining cats. The cats were very frightened all summer.

We have seen them again over the summer and neighbors have reported seeing them in their yards also. I did not even realize that we even had them in the area until this summer.

We have had cats for over 10 years and have never had any problems.

Coyote sightings
by: anon

The abundance of Coyotes in Southern Ontario means less food in woodlots and fields.

These animals are moving closer to populated areas.

They will take small pets as food, as well as smaller Deer, sheep and other relatively sized livestock.
