First coyote sighting
by Rob Medcalf
(Leamington, Ontario, Canada)
Driving through Point Pelee National Park, on Sunday, November 3 2013 at 8:30 am, when one crossed the road in front of me, not in a hurry.
When it hit the bush, I stopped in my vehicle and the Coyote
stopped and looked at me.
It was maybe 40 feet away, then is sauntered off into the bush.
It's the first one I have seen in 11 years of living in Leamington.
I drive the park quite often over the years and enjoy driving my family through the park, I have seen dozens of Deer
in the park over the years and have seen Raccoons
, Wild Turkeys
, snapping turtles, muskrats and even mink crossing the road, but this is the first Coyote ever.
It was larger then I thought it would be, maybe 50lbs, very healthy looking, thick coat, travelling alone.
