Bald Eagles near Port Rowan & St. Williams, ON

by Christopher K
(Barrie, Ontario)

On Father's Day 2011 I was at my Dad's farm between Port Rowan and St. Williams when I looked out into the field (a few hundred yards?) when I saw what I thought were wild Turkeys.

I watched them for about 30 seconds. Then, suddenly one of them jumped up and began flying - faster and faster, up, up and away and over a nearby forest.

Not long after that, the other one did the same thing, but this one had the unmistakable white head and white tail of a bald eagle (or do they all? I was pretty far away)!

I was stunned. My brother and I decided to take the video camera with us and go search for these beautiful birds.

Eventually, after walking far out into the fields and along tree lines, one of them flew out of a tall tree that we were standing near, which caught us totally by surprise - I didn't even have my camera ready.

Maybe 10 minutes later I managed to get one of these Bald Eagles in flight through the sky.

It's really rather an amazing video in my opinion, and needless to say, I am now a huge fan of the Bald eagle!

Thank you so much for your story of your Bald Eagle sighting. If you were to post your video to YouTube, and let me know where to find it, I could put it here for our readers to see!
